The Programme includes the following events and activities. All events are free but some will require pre-booking due to limited space - call 01223 837456 to book your places or click here for more information. The availability of tickets is shown next to each event description.

The Festival takes place between Saturday 3rd and Sunday 11th May.

During the weekend of 10th/11th May there is a programme of talks, workshops and fun activities that takes place across three sessions:

Events coloured in ORANGE require pre-booking (see above). Events coloured in BLUE are "drop-in" and do not require pre-booking. Maps of the locations can be found on the Contact page.

The age limits shown are for guidance only – although in the case of the print workshops, the minimum age limits shown will apply. Children will need to be accompanied by an adult at all events except for the workshops on Sunday 11 May.

LIZ HIDE - STONE GIRL BONE GIRL - 10.00AM Cathodeon Centre

Liz will telling the story of Stone Girl Bone Girl by Laurence Anholt. This true story is about a 12 year old girl called Mary Anning who, in 1811, discovered the first fossil skeleton of a giant sea creature, and went on to be one of the greatest fossil collectors of her time.

The talk will be in part about collecting fossils, and Liz will bring along some of the Sedgwick Musuem's amazing fossils from the Jurassic period for you to handle.

Spies - you are needed for an urgent mission. Jimmy Coates needs your help - the whole planet is counting on you. Solve puzzles against the clock and avoid tripping off the alarms. Prizes will be awarded to the winning group by Joe Craig.

CHILDREN'S HISTORY WALK WITH GARTH COLLARD - Sat 3 May 2pm - Meet at 'The Grip'

Local historian Garth Collard is our guide as we follow in the footsteps of the Parliamentarian forces advancing on the Royalist rebels in 1648. The ensuing "Battle of Linton" changed the course of the English Civil War and sealed the fate of King Charles 1. We hope to meet some colourful characters along the way...

How to Get Tickets

As noted above, all of the events and activities at Linton Children’s Book Festival are FREE. However, due to the likely popularity of some events and workshops, and/or limited space, many will need to be booked in advance.

There will be a Priority Booking period after Easter for children attending Linton Schools. Remaining tickets will be available to the general public via telephone booking from 21 April. Please ring Sawston Bookshop on 01223 837456 between 9.30am and 5pm Monday to Saturday from this date. In some cases it may also be possible to obtain tickets on the day, but please do not rely on this.
